An estimated 98% of the global population of palm warbler breeds in Canada's boreal forest. Unlike most wood-warblers, it prefers breeding habitats that are open and unwooded. It is also one of very few species that takes advantage of black spruce bog environments and often nests in areas with scattered trees and heavy undergrowth.
