The first time my now husband and I visited Birch Point Beach State Park in Owls Head, Maine was on an unseasonably warm April day back in 2011. As we emerged from the brief walk down the dirt road, we were pleasantly surprised by the gorgeous horseshoe beach that we looked upon. With picnic provisions in hand, we negotiated the rocky edge on the right side of the tiny cove until we reached the point just past where the scrub pines ended. The spring sun warmed our souls as we sat gazing upon the serene ocean view. The scene I painted here looks out across the beach to the rock slabs where we first fell in love with this charming state park.
