Drakes Island Beach, Wells Maine Print

from $24.00
Size:
Drakes Island Beach is one of my favorite places in Wells, Maine. There are technically two beaches in one location, the larger one that spans from the jetty at the mouth of Wells Harbor all the way up to where it meets Laudholm Beach; and a smaller one that runs along the entrance to the Harbor and wraps around a small peninsula. Seals can often be spotted in the area.

Preferring to avoid the busy summer crowds, I walk this beach often in the off-season, when the weather can be quite unpredictable. There’s often a steady breeze that blows from the sand dunes on the southern end of the beach where there are no houses to block the wind. Standing here, one can watch any bad weather approaching. This digital painting is inspired by a walk where the late morning sun was partially obscured by clouds, creating a unique array of colors both in the sky and reflecting on the ocean. The scene warmed my soul even as I inhaled the crisp winter air.

Each piece is printed on high quality archival Canon luster photo paper and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

6x9, 8x10 and 8x12 artwork includes an acid-free white mat.

12x18 prints are printed with a half inch white border on 13x19 paper and are shipped rolled in a rigid cardboard tube.
